Happy Tail: Increase in healthy animals released into wild

The SSPCA have reported an 18% increase in the number of creatures they have taken in and successfully managed to release back into the wild. The charity – which this year celebrates an incredible 175th anniversary – investigates cases of cruelty, teaches children about animal welfare and takes in sick or injured animals up and down Scotland.

In 2013, a total of 2,795 animals taken in by the charity were successfully re-released, while they also report public awareness of their role increasing from 75% to 90%. It’s fantastic to hear not only that they are reporting more successes with release and rehabilitation of injured critters, but also that more and more people are becoming aware of just what it is they actually do.

Congratulations to the SSPCA. Here’s to another 175 years of continuing your incredible work.

To report a sick or injured animal or bird in Scotland, please call the SSPCA’s 24 hour welfare line on 03000 999 999.
